Meirav Barnea is a partner in the firm’s Planning & Zoning Department. She specializes in public and administrative law, as well as planning and zoning, administrative litigation, local government law, and providing legal advice on an ongoing basis. Adv. Barnea has extensive experience with every stage of planning and zoning procedures, including the approval of city building plans, objections, large-scale claims under section 197 of the Israeli Planning & Building Law, major betterment tax cases, and so on. She has accompanied and represented many institutional and private clients before various planning institutions and in legal proceedings, including appeals, administrative petitions, and petitions to the High Court of Justice.
For many years, Adv. Barnea has served as legal counsel to the Regional Council Center, and to a number of local committees. She is currently legal counsel to an infrastructure company and supplies legal services to local authorities.
Prior to joining Cohen Wilchek in 2006, Adv. Barnea served for some seven years in the Military Advocate General’s Corps. During this period, she was also legal counsel to the District Planning & Zoning Committee and to the Israel Land Authority. Her most recent position at the MAG Corps was a senior role in the International Law Department, which included serving as a legal advisor to Israeli delegations overseas.
